Showing emotion daily through facial movement is normal, but years of laughing and
frowning can take its toll. Sometimes the evidence is endearing, but when colleagues or
friends start saying you always look angry or tired, Botox could be the answer.
Lines and wrinkles caused by overactive movement of some facial muscles can be treated
with Botox
Botox has many medical uses, including treating blepharospasm, excessive sweating, and cerebral palsy. Botox has also been successfully used to treat chronic pain due to teeth grinding.
You suffer from lines and wrinkles caused by the overactivity of your facial muscles, such as forehead lines, crow’s feet, and bunny lines on the nose. Sometimes smile lines around the mouth can also be treated.
You suffer from banding of the platysmal muscles of the neck.
The following cannot be corrected/removed or improved by Botox:
Permanent deep furrows or lines.
Excess skin of the face or neck.
Thin lips.
These problems can be corrected by dermal fillers, facelift surgery, neck lift, or liposuction.
Botox for hyperhidrosis
Although we all sweat during exercise or the hot summer months, patients who suffer from hyperhidrosis sweat even when they are not exercising, or in winter.
Excessive sweating can have a devastating functional, emotional, and social impact on sufferers, making it difficult to perform daily functions.
Botox injections to the affected areas might offer much-needed relief.
Botox injections can be administered in an outpatient setting. Injections in the hands and feet can be more painful, and a regional block may be performed before administering the injections.
Between 80% and 95% of patients experience complete resolution or a reduction within a week or two. The effect of treatments last between six months and, in some cases, longer than a year.
This is not a permanent solution but can be repeated over a patient’s lifetime.
Dermal fillers
Dynamic lines form with active facial movements when you laugh, smile or cry and can be halted or reduced with Botox injections.
When these lines start a permanent crease, however, static lines develop. These are best treated with dermal fillers.
In addition, dermal fillers are used to restore, enhance and add to the fullness of your face, which decreases with aging as facial bones absorb and fat pads slide down.
There is a wide range of fillers to choose from, and each filler performs a different function. Some add volume to cheeks and lips, others fill in wrinkles on the forehead and around the mouth, while others smooth and enhance skin quality
