Breasts symbolize everything that is feminine, glorious, sensuous, desirable and good. Breasts represent fertility, reproduction and nurturing.
Breast augmentation procedures have been performed over 25 years on over 2.5million women worldwide. Patients seek breast augmentation for a variety of reasons, which include improving self-esteem, to achieve a more proportionate body contour and to achieve a more youthful shape to their breast.
Suitable patients
Patients undergoing any cosmetic surgery procedure should be healthy, psychologically stable and realistic in their expectations.
When considering breast augmentation, you need to understand that the result will depend mostly on what your anatomy is like before the procedure:
the shape of your breast, the anatomy of your chest, the quality of skin and the amount of existing breast tissue will all determine your result.
Expecting that your breasts should look the same as your favorite celebrity, or that your result should be the same as your friend’s is unrealistic and will no doubt lead to disappointment.
You need to discuss exactly what can be realistically achieved with your plastic surgeon.
You may be a candidate for breast implant surgery if:
  • you are healthy.
  • you have realistic expectations.
  • your breasts are fully developed.
  • you feel that your breasts are too small.
  • you are dissatisfied with your breast shape and volume due to pregnancy, weight loss or aging.
  • you are unhappy with the upper part of your breast appearing empty.
  • your breasts are asymmetrical.
  • one or both of your breasts failed to develop normally or have a tube-like shape.
You are not a suitable candidate for breast implant surgery if:
  • you are pregnant.
  • you are breastfeeding.
  • you suffer from diabetes.
  • you suffer from wound healing disorders.
The following cannot be corrected/removed or improved by a breast augmentation procedure:
  • Overly large, pendulous breasts with excess skin cannot necessarily be improved by placing breast implants alone and might have to be combined with a breast reduction or breast lift procedure.
